Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.

  • At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in fire alarm, electrical, or mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects.

  • Fresh graduates may be considered for a junior position.

  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, control panels, wiring, and electrical installations.

  • Familiarity with applicable NFPA, British Standards (BS), Malaysian Standards (MS), and local authority requirements.

  • Strong project coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

  • Willingness to travel and work at project sites as required.

Added Advantages

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, or other design and drafting tools.

  • Hands-on experience with fire alarm systems such as Notifier, Honeywell, Siemens, or similar brands.

  • Hands-on experience in programming and configuring Edwards Systems Technology (EST) fire alarm systems will be a strong advantage.

  • Relevant registration with a local authority or professional body, where applicable.

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Project Engineer to manage the planning, coordination, installation, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm and electrical system projects. The successful candidate will work with clients, consultants, contractors, and site teams to ensure projects meet approved timelines, budgets, technical specifications, and quality standards.

Job Description

The Project Engineer will oversee the technical and site execution aspects of fire alarm and electrical projects from initiation through to completion and handover. This includes reviewing designs, preparing technical submissions, supervising installation works, resolving site issues, and coordinating inspections and approvals.

The role requires knowledge of fire alarm systems, control panels, wiring, and electrical installations. The candidate should be able to coordinate project resources, troubleshoot system issues, and ensure works comply with applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and site safety procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet approved timelines.

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, suppliers, and site teams on project requirements and execution.

  • Prepare, review, and coordinate technical drawings, shop drawings, and material submissions for approval.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and follow up on corrective actions.

Installation and Site Supervision

  • Supervise the installation of fire alarm and electrical systems, including control panels, devices, cabling, and related equipment.

  • Ensure installation works follow approved drawings, specifications, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct site inspections, identify installation defects, and coordinate rectification works.

  • Resolve technical and site coordination issues with the relevant parties.

Testing and Commissioning

  • Perform and coordinate system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fire alarm and electrical installations.

  • Verify system functionality and ensure defects are resolved before inspection and handover.

  • Liaise with relevant fire and electrical authorities for inspections and approvals.

  • Prepare and maintain testing and commissioning records.

Documentation and Cost Monitoring

  • Prepare project progress reports, method statements, risk assessments, and inspection records.

  • Maintain updated records of drawings, approvals, technical submissions, and test reports.

  • Monitor project costs and track variations against the approved budget.

  • Coordinate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and project handover documentation.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Ensure project works comply with applicable fire safety, electrical, and building codes.

  • Implement and monitor site quality assurance and safety procedures.

  • Identify and report unsafe practices, defective installations, and non-compliant work.
