Company Overview
Cross-border money movement is shifting to real time, and regulators expect financial crime controls to keep pace. Our client is a leading global payments infrastructure company, licensed across dozens of markets and trusted by enterprises, banks and fintechs. Profitable and still scaling, it pairs the reach of a category leader with the pace of a high-growth business.
Role Overview
This role sets the group-wide financial crime strategy and builds the standards, policies and technology that in-country MLROs and compliance officers rely on. Reporting to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, you will keep every market audit-ready, cut manual effort through automation and help new markets go live quickly without weakening control. The role can be based in Singapore or London, hybrid, three days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and roll out a group AML/CFT control framework across payments, cards and new products, with one risk appetite and room for local regulatory requirements
- Partner with product and engineering to define global requirements for KYC, screening and AI/ML-driven transaction monitoring, whether built in-house or bought
- Lead the evaluation and selection of financial crime compliance vendors, balancing quality, cost and global scalability
- Run regular global and regional risk assessments and oversee complex investigations and suspicious transaction reporting
- Strengthen KYC, CDD and EDD workflows, rule tuning and back-testing so controls hold up through rapid growth
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex financial crime cases spanning multiple jurisdictions
- Give regional MLROs and country compliance officers the policies, tools and guidance to pass regulatory inspections and audits
- Build, develop and lead a cross-border compliance team with a strong culture of challenge and escalation
Key Requirements
- 12+ years in senior financial crime or compliance leadership at a global payments company, fintech or international bank
- Working knowledge of financial crime regulation across major jurisdictions, including Singapore’s Payment Services Act, US BSA/PATRIOT Act requirements and cross-border payment standards
- A systems-first approach, with a track record of replacing manual reviews with scalable, automated controls
- Proven ability to lead through a matrix, giving functional direction to regional MLROs who hold local accountability
- Deep understanding of high-velocity payments, digital onboarding and crypto-related risk
- Experience handling complex, multi-jurisdiction financial crime investigations and advising senior leadership
