About the Role
Reunite Limited is advancing R&D that bridges traditional 3D DCC pipelines (ZBrush, Blender, Maya, Substance 3D Painter) with real-time web engines (WebGL/WebGPU). We are looking for a Graphics Systems Research Engineer to support research in AI mesh optimization/retopology and web-native material systems.Key Responsibilities
- Research and help define algorithms for automated retopology and mesh optimization, focusing on clean quad topology, edge flow, and surface curvature preservation from high-density AI-generated meshes.
- Create benchmark 3D models and test assets in Blender and ZBrush to establish target topology standards.
- Evaluate automated retopology outputs for geometric quality, normal accuracy, and visual fidelity; provide structured feedback to engineers.
- Research procedural material systems for the web by translating PBR workflows from Substance 3D Painter into lightweight real-time shaders.
- Define material parameters, blend modes, noise generation, channel conversion, and UV projection methods suitable for browser performance.
- Perform visual QA comparing web engine materials against reference renders and report issues (artifacts, colour-space mismatches, etc.).
- Contribute to benchmarking methods and iterative improvement of the mesh and material pipelines.
Requirements
- Background in computer graphics, 3D geometry processing, real-time rendering, or a related technical field.
- Practical experience with at least some of: Blender, ZBrush, Maya, or Substance 3D Painter.
- Understanding of mesh topology principles and/or PBR material workflows.
- Interest in real-time graphics, WebGL/WebGPU, or performance-constrained rendering.
- Ability to analyse visual/geometric results and communicate clear technical feedback.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-generated 3D assets, automated retopology, or procedural materials.
- Familiarity with shader concepts or browser-based 3D.
