Jobs Kreate is recruiting on behalf of a client for a shipboard Butcher position. The successful candidate will manage raw meat preparation, portioning, storage and inventory while maintaining high food-quality, sanitation and safety standards onboard.

Important: Cruise ship grading may differ from land-based hospitality structures. Candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, subject to the cruise line’s assessment and operational requirements.

• Open to Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.

• This is a full-time position. Part-time applications will not be considered.

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Butcher or in a similar position within a 4-star or 5-star hospitality or restaurant environment.

• Professional knowledge of meat handling, cutting, preparation and portioning.

• Able to follow proper thawing, defrosting, food-storage and sanitation procedures.

• Experience leading and developing a multicultural culinary team.

• Strong knowledge of public health, food safety and sanitation requirements.

• Fluent in English with the ability to understand menus, recipes and operational instructions.

• Additional language abilities are an advantage.

• Strong leadership, coaching, motivational and organisational skills.

• Administrative and computer skills, including spreadsheets and word-processing systems, are preferred.

• Physically able to handle items weighing 50+ lbs.

• Able to work a minimum of 11 hours per day, 7 days per week while onboard.

• Flexible, stress-resistant and able to perform effectively in a demanding galley environment.

• Professional appearance and high personal hygiene standards.

Salary

• Salary: USD 2,900

• Contract duration: 6 months

• Handle, defrost, prepare, cut and portion raw meat according to approved standards.

• Follow all required thawing and defrosting schedules and procedures.

• Maintain accurate inventory records for raw meat products.

• Organise meat stores and ensure products are stored safely and correctly.

• Monitor stock levels and perform basic calculations related to meat inventory.

• Maintain clean-as-you-go practices throughout preparation and production.

• Clean, sanitise and store butcher equipment correctly after use.

• Minimise product wastage, equipment loss and damage.

• Ensure mise-en-place is completed before service.

• Lead, assign duties to and train the Assistant Butcher and other assigned team members.

• Support performance reviews, onboard training, succession planning and crew communication.

• Maintain working-hour records and support Maritime Labour Convention compliance.

• Contribute towards culinary quality and financial KPI targets.

• Follow all onboard public health, environmental, PPE, safety, security and emergency procedures.
