THE ROLE
RMES is modernizing the systems that run its marine engineering operations, with ERPNext at the center of that transformation — spanning commercial, operational, and engineering-to-production workflows.
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who can operate at the intersection of software, operations, and people.
You will work directly with operational teams to understand how work gets done, identify high-value problems, and turn them into practical system improvements. You will combine hands-on technical problem solving with strong product judgment, using modern AI tools to accelerate analysis, prototyping, development, and delivery.
This is not a traditional back-office software role. You will work close to the users, own problems end-to-end, and help make ERPNext a system the business relies on every day.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Embed with operations.
Work directly with users and department leaders to understand workflows, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
Turn ambiguity into execution.
Translate operational problems into clear requirements, technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and prioritized engineering work.
Build and improve ERPNext.
Configure, troubleshoot, and extend ERPNext/Frappe across workflows, DocTypes, permissions, reports, integrations, and business logic, including the connections between engineering data(drawings, revisions, BOMs) and production execution.
Use AI as an engineering multiplier.
Apply modern LLM and AI-assisted development tools to analyze code, prototype solutions, draft specifications, investigate issues, and accelerate delivery.
Own delivery end-to-end.
Work with distributed engineering teams from problem definition through implementation, testing, rollout, and iteration.
Drive adoption.
Work closely with users to simplify processes, remove friction, and ensure solutions succeed in real operating environments.
Partner with leadership.
Communicate progress, trade-offs, risks, and opportunities clearly across technical and business stakeholders.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Strong systems thinking and the ability to decompose ambiguous real-world problems
Strong foundation in Python, APIs, data models, integrations, and debugging
Experience with ERPNext/Frappe, or comparable ERP and operational systems
Curiosity about engineering and manufacturing data: willingness to learn how CAD/CAM and CNC workflows, drawings, revisions, and BOMs move between engineering and production, and how to integrate and automate around them
Comfort using modern AI coding and reasoning tools as part of your daily engineering workflow
Ability to communicate equally well with engineers, operators, and senior stakeholders
High ownership, sound judgment, and comfort operating in environments where requirements evolve
Interest in understanding how industrial businesses operate, not just how their software works
This role requires a strong on-site presence in Singapore.
WHY RMES
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, AI, enterprise systems, and real-world industrial operations.
You will have significant ownership, direct access to users and decisionmakers, and the ability to see the operational impact of what you build.
