Job Description – Project Engineer (Genset Industry)

Department: Project & Service

Location: Site / Office (Local & Overseas as required)

Reports To: Project Manager

Role Summary

The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, installation and commissioning of diesel generator systems for data centres and critical-power projects. The role ensures all works follow approved drawings, safety standards and client/OEM requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day project activities, installation works, and subcontractors.

• Review drawings, specifications and method statements for genset, fuel system, exhaust, ventilation and electrical integration.

• Supervise site works including module installation, cabling, fuel piping, remote radiator, exhaust system and panel installation.

• Support testing & commissioning: pre-commissioning checks, load bank tests, black start, synchronization and system integration.

• Prepare daily reports, progress updates, inspection checklists and as-built documentation.

• Attend site meetings and provide technical clarifications to contractors, consultants, and clients.

• Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, material delivery, site photos, and as-built documentation.

• Coordinate for handover documents including O&M manuals, warranty forms, training materials, test reports and certification documents.

• Ensure compliance with safety requirements and project quality standards.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering fields.

• Experience in genset, M&E, power plant, or data centre projects is an advantage.

• Able to read mechanical/electrical drawings and understand SLDs.

• Strong coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Willing to work on site and travel when required.
