Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced L2 Data Center Network Technician / Network Engineer to provide onsite support for network infrastructure deployment and migration activities in Penang.

The engineer will be responsible for receiving and preparing new network equipment, including routers and switches, performing physical installation, rack mounting and cabling, and working closely with a remote network team during configuration and deployment.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience working in data center environments and be comfortable supporting network infrastructure installations independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and verify incoming routers, switches, and other network equipment.
• Unbox and inspect new equipment for any visible damage or discrepancies.
• Perform rack and stack activities for network devices.
• Install routers and switches securely in data center racks.
• Perform structured network cabling and cable management.
• Connect power, network, and other required cables according to deployment instructions.
• Work closely with the remote network engineering team during device configuration and deployment.
• Provide onsite hands and eyes support to the remote team.
• Assist with initial connectivity checks and basic troubleshooting.
• Follow network installation, migration, and change procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installed equipment and cabling.
• Support network migration activities and adapt to changing schedules when required.
• Report installation progress, issues, and equipment discrepancies to the project team.
• Follow all data center safety, security, and operational procedures.

Required Technical Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in data center environments.
• Previous experience as a Network Engineer, Network Technician, Data Center Technician, or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with routers and switches.
• Experience with rack & stack, cabling, equipment installation, and network deployments.
• Good understanding of basic networking concepts and network infrastructure.
• Ability to work with remote network teams during device configuration.
• Experience supporting network migrations is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently onsite.
