FOURDIGIT is a Japanese digital design company that goes beyond visual aesthetics — we design experiences that improve society in collaboration with our clients.

Headquartered in Tokyo, with offices in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, we combine service design, UX, visual design and engineering to deliver digital products for leading companies. Our KL branch is growing, and we are now looking for a Technical Consultant to set up and lead the technical side of our Malaysian business.

This is not a back-office engineering role. You will sit next to clients, turn their goals into a clear technical plan, and lead delivery together with designers and our engineering and AI teams across Asia.

・Work with clients from the early stage: understand their business, define requirements, and translate the "what" into the "how" (architecture, technology choices, scope, and estimates).

・Act as the technical lead on projects. Make technical decisions, review code, and keep quality high from kickoff to release.

・Build key parts of the frontend yourself (components, interactions, and the core codebase), and set the standards others follow.

・Deliver projects on your own, or lead our partner development team in Indonesia as needed, working together with our Tokyo and Bangkok teams.

・Design and deliver AI adoption for clients: automate business processes, and embed generative AI into their products and operations.

・Support sales as a technical expert: join client meetings, shape proposals, and package repeatable solutions.

・Collaborate closely with UX designers and visual designers, so the final product matches the design intent.

・Travel to Japan or other offices when needed for hands-on collaboration.

Must have

・5+ years of experience in web or app development, including 2+ years in a lead or client-facing technical role.

・Strong frontend skills (TypeScript, React or Vue.js), and experience building a project from scratch.

・Experience defining requirements, designing systems, and estimating effort with clients or business stakeholders.

・Professional English. You can explain technical decisions to non-engineers and negotiate scope.

Nice to have

・Japanese language skills (conversational or above), or experience working with Japanese companies.

・Hands-on experience using generative AI in development or business processes (AI coding tools, LLM APIs, workflow automation).

・Knowledge of backend and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and API design.

・Experience leading offshore or distributed teams.

・Experience in pre-sales or solution consulting.

・Founding role: You will be the first technical lead in KL and shape how we build our technical business in Malaysia.

・Design × Engineering × AI: Work with designers and AI teams across Japan and Southeast Asia on real client projects.

・Global collaboration: Work closely with our Tokyo HQ and Asian offices, bridging cultures and perspectives.
