• 5–8 years of professional frontend engineering experience building and maintaining production web applications.

• Strong React and TypeScript — modern hooks, state management, rendering behaviour, and the discipline to keep a large codebase navigable.

• At least one native mobile app shipped to a public store that you personally built a significant part of, in Kotlin (Jetpack Compose or Android Views) or in Swift (SwiftUI or UIKit).

• Real-time interface experience — WebSocket or equivalent streaming, with a working understanding of reconnection, ordering, and stale-state handling.

• Demonstrable performance engineering — you have profiled a slow interface, found the cause, and fixed it, and can describe how.

• Correctness instincts around money — decimal precision, rounding rules, and idempotent user actions.

• Internationalisation experience shipping a product in more than one language, ideally including Mandarin.

• Professional working proficiency in both English and Mandarin — reading and speaking. See Language Requirements below.

Web Trading Interfaces

• Build and own the trading terminal — order book, depth chart, order entry, open orders and positions, trade history, and the portfolio and account views around them.

• Ship the surrounding product surfaces — registration and KYC onboarding, deposit and withdrawal flows, security settings, fee and market information pages.

• Get money display exactly right — never floating point for balances, per-market tick and lot size rounding, correct display precision, and unambiguous formatting of very large and very small numbers.

• Design order entry so a mistake is hard to make — clear confirmation for market orders, sane defaults, disabled states while a request is in flight, and no path where a double click sends two orders.

Real-Time Data & Performance

• Consume high-frequency WebSocket streams correctly — snapshot-plus-diff order book reconstruction, sequence gap detection, resubscription and resynchronisation after a reconnect, and clearing stale state rather than showing it.

• Keep the interface at 60fps under load — virtualised lists, canvas or WebGL rendering where the DOM cannot keep up, batched updates, memoisation, and elimination of layout thrash.

• Profile rather than guess — flame charts, React profiler, long-task tracing, and bundle analysis, with the measurement attached to the pull request.

• Handle degraded networks deliberately — reconnect with backoff, offline and reconnecting states the user can see, and an explicit rule for what the screen shows when data is no longer trustworthy.

Native Mobile — Android or iOS

• Build and ship native app features in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, or in Swift with SwiftUI and UIKit — trading, funding, account management, and notifications.

• Implement platform security properly — biometric authentication via BiometricPrompt or Face ID, key material in Keystore or Keychain, certificate pinning, screenshot suppression on sensitive screens, and root or jailbreak detection.

• Manage real-time connections under mobile constraints — socket lifecycle across backgrounding and process death, battery and data cost, and push notification delivery through FCM or APNs.

• Own the release pipeline — signing, staged rollout, App Store and Play Console submissions, review responses, crash triage, and adoption monitoring of each version.

• Keep platforms consistent without flattening them — the same feature and the same guarantees on every client, expressed through each platform's own conventions rather than a shared lowest common denominator.

Design System, Localisation & Accessibility

• Build and maintain a shared component library with design tokens that hold up across web and native, including a dark theme that is designed rather than inverted.

• Deliver a genuinely bilingual product — English and Mandarin in both Simplified and Traditional, with correct CJK typography and line breaking, locale-aware number, date and currency formatting, and layouts that survive a 40% string length change.

• Make the product usable for everyone — keyboard navigation and focus management on web, screen reader labelling on order entry, dynamic type support on mobile, and contrast that holds in both themes.

• Work closely with design — challenge a mock that will not survive live data, and push back on any pattern that makes an irreversible action easy.

Client Security

• Handle credentials and sessions safely — token storage and refresh rotation, session timeout, device binding, and no secret material that a client should never hold.

• Defend the web surface — Content Security Policy, XSS and clickjacking prevention, dependency review, and caution with anything that injects third-party script into a page where people move money.

• Build anti-phishing patterns into the product — withdrawal address whitelisting, confirmation flows that show what is actually being signed, and anti-phishing codes in notifications.

Collaboration & Craft

• Partner across time zones with backend, design, product, and compliance colleagues.

• Write tests where they earn their place — unit tests on money and formatting logic, component tests on order entry, and end-to-end coverage of the flows that move funds.

• Raise the engineering bar through code review, technical documentation, and mentoring of junior engineers.

• Translate between contexts — clarifying Mandarin-language specifications and user feedback for English-speaking teammates and vice versa.
