What The Role Is
The Strategy Group leads and organises the Public Service to deliver the Government’s long-term, cross-cutting priorities. The National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS), under the Strategy Group, develops, coordinates and implements Singapore’s domestic and international climate change strategies.
You will play four key roles:
- Technology scouting: Identify and uncover emerging climate mitigation and adaptation technologies with potential to be deployed in Singapore. This involves research and extensive engagement with venture capital firms, climate tech start-ups, research institutes, scientists and industry leaders.
- Technology assessment and deployment: Assess the technical, economic and deployment potential of promising technologies, and work with agencies and partners to chart pathways for adoption, piloting and scale-up in Singapore.
- R&D ecosystem development: Help shape Singapore's climate technology and innovation ecosystem by identifying gaps in our public R&D landscape and opportunities for strategic R&D investments. Work with partner agencies to address these gaps, seize emerging opportunities and accelerate the development of transformative solutions.
- Policy analysis and support: Undertake deep technical and scientific analysis to support national climate policies and strategies, including work on emissions pathways, carbon budgets, marginal abatement cost curves and assessments of specific decarbonisation options. This helps ensure that Singapore's climate policies are grounded in rigorous scientific and technical evidence.
What You Will Be Working On
You will be part of the Climate Change, Sustainability, Science and Technology Office (CCSSTO) within NCCS. CCSSTO serves as NCCS' technology office, with the mandate of identifying and advancing emerging technologies that can support Singapore's decarbonisation and climate resilience. Working at the intersection of science, technology and policy, you will help shape how Singapore evaluates, develops and deploys climate solutions.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in a relevant field (e.g. clean energy, built environment, carbon capture, industrial decarbonisation, climate science) would be an advantage.
- Strong interest in climate technologies and emerging scientific developments, with curiosity and willingness to engage deeply with technical subject matter.
- Ability to carry out deep research and analyses of the technical and economic feasibility of emerging climate technologies.
- Ability to translate technical and scientific analyses into clear policy insights and actionable recommendations.
- Comfortable engaging diverse external stakeholders, including venture capital firms, climate tech start-ups, corporates and researchers, to identify emerging opportunities, build partnerships and bring the best ideas to Singapore.
Successful candidates will be offered a 2-year contract. We may refer you as a potential candidate for vacancies in other agencies we assessed you to be suitable for.
