The Engineering and Technology team is at the core of the Shopee platform development. Job Description:
- Lead end-to-end architecture design and implementation of critical Marketplace Order Operations systems, including return/refund flows, clearing and settlement pipelines, and seller operation capabilities, ensuring performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Drive platform-level modularization and codebase unification, abstracting common modules such as scheduling frameworks, notification services, rule engines, and database access layers to improve delivery speed and maintainability across business lines.
- Own strategic technical roadmaps, aligning architecture decisions with business goals, and guide the team through large-scale projects from inception to delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Operations, SRE, and Data teams to deliver reliable, high-availability services in multi-region deployments.
- Champion performance optimization through large-scale concurrency handling, caching strategies, async processing, and database performance tuning.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance development efficiency, system resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- At least 7 years of backend development experience in large-scale, business-critical systems; at least 3 years in architecture leadership roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Golang, Java, C++, with solid knowledge of distributed systems, microservice orchestration, and event-driven architecture.
- Proven track record of building complex systems from 0 to 1, including seller platforms, campaign management systems, rule-based recommendation logic, and governance tools.
- Familiar with MySQL, Redis, Kafka, Kubernetes, gRPC, Protocol Buffers and performance tuning in high-concurrency environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; able to independently own critical modules and drive cross-team architectural initiatives.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities; capable of guiding diverse teams and managing cross-regional, cross-product-line projects.
- Experience in e-commerce, ads platforms, or high-throughput transaction systems is a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in performance-critical, high-availability systems with multi-market deployments
- Deep expertise in Domain-Driven Design and applying it to complex business logic and microservice boundaries.
- Experience integrating AI or large language models to automate integration workflows or improve developer tooling.
- Contributions to engineering process improvements, including CI/CD pipeline optimization, developer tooling, and operational monitoring frameworks.
