Your Role

As a NodeJS Software Engineer, you will work as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, build and evolve digital solutions for our clients.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining software development, solution design, technology exploration and technical consultancy. You will work closely with engineers, UX specialists and other disciplines, turning business and user needs into robust technical solutions.

You will have the opportunity to work with modern application technologies, cloud and DevOps practices, while exploring emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and low-code platforms including OutSystems.

What You Will Be Working On

Software Engineering & Delivery

• Design, develop, integrate, test and maintain complex software components and applications.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable solutions using modern web and application technologies, including Node.js and related technology stacks.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into practical software solutions.
• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from technical design and prototyping through implementation, testing and ongoing improvement.
• Apply sound software engineering practices to improve maintainability, reliability and overall solution quality.

Architecture & Prototyping

• Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts to explore new ideas and demonstrate technology opportunities.
• Contribute to application and system architecture, helping teams make appropriate technical choices based on customer needs.
• Evaluate different technologies and implementation approaches, considering technical feasibility, maintainability and business value.
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute to the definition of specifications and solution designs.

Agile & Customer-Centred Delivery

• Work in Agile, multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions iteratively and collaboratively.
• Apply design-thinking and customer-oriented approaches to understand problems before translating them into technical solutions.
• Collaborate closely with UX designers, developers, engineers and other specialists to create effective digital products and services.
• Contribute to planning, refinement, technical discussions and continuous improvement throughout delivery.

Emerging Technologies & Innovation

• Explore emerging technologies and evaluate how they can solve real customer and business problems.
• Identify opportunities to use technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to create business value or improve service experiences.
• Learn and work with new platforms and technologies where appropriate, including OutSystems.
• Support rapid experimentation through prototypes and technical demonstrations before solutions move into wider implementation.

Technical Consulting

• Provide technical expertise throughout the systems development process.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into implementable solutions.
• Contribute to technical specifications, solution configuration, integration and testing.
• Communicate technical concepts and engineering considerations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with clients and internal teams to solve complex technology challenges.

What We Are Looking For

Must Have

Technical foundation

• A relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Hands-on software development experience building modern web or application solutions.
• Experience with modern application technologies and frameworks, particularly Node.js or comparable technology stacks.
• Good understanding of software engineering principles and the software development lifecycle.

Agile, DevOps & Cloud

• Good understanding of Agile software development practices.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.
• Knowledge of modern cloud technologies and how they support contemporary application development and delivery.
• Comfortable working within collaborative development environments and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Engineering mindset

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to break complex problems into practical technical solutions.
• Curiosity about technology and a willingness to continuously learn.
• Interest in exploring technologies outside your existing stack when appropriate for the problem being solved.
• Passion for engineering and using technology to address meaningful business and customer challenges.

Good to Have

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
• Previous experience working within large software engineering teams.
• Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders in consultancy, professional services or complex enterprise environments.
• Exposure to OutSystems or other low-code development platforms.
• Exposure to Artificial Intelligence or AI-enabled application development.
• Experience contributing to prototypes, proof-of-concepts or early-stage technical solution design.
• Experience working across different disciplines such as engineering, UX, product, business analysis, cloud or DevOps.
