An Asia-based alternative asset manager is adding a Financial Controller / Senior Finance Manager in Singapore. This seat sits on the GP / management company side of the business, not the funds.
You would oversee the finance of the investment manager itself: group consolidation across multiple jurisdictions, reporting to senior management, the Board and shareholders, multi-year forecasting and budgeting, and the integration and improvement of finance processes across the group. If your strength is GP / management company group finance, this is worth a conversation.
The work
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the remit covers four areas:
- GP finance oversight and consolidation — accounting, treasury, cash management and consolidation across multiple jurisdictions; leading the consolidation of group results and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reports for senior management, the Board and shareholders; keeping accounting policies, reporting standards and classification of financial information consistent across group entities
- Financial reporting and integration — acting as a key finance coordinator across the group, working with finance teams in other locations including China; additional management reporting as the group grows in scale and complexity; alignment of reporting frameworks, chart of accounts and processes across group entities
- Budgeting and financial forecasting — multi-year forecasts and financial models built on key business drivers such as management fees, operating expenses and headcount; coordinating annual budgeting and semi-annual reforecasting with business and functional teams; variance analysis and financial insight for management
- Finance transformation and internal controls — improving financial reporting, systems, processes and internal controls, and the efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of reporting, so the finance function scales with the growth and complexity of the group
What makes you a fit
- Qualified CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent, with approximately 8 to 12 years of relevant experience. Big Four or reputable audit firm background is preferred
- Strong experience in GP / management company finance within private equity, alternative asset management or financial services. Fund accounting experience is an advantage
- Solid technical knowledge of IFRS, multi-entity consolidation and management reporting
- Proven experience developing financial models, multi-year forecasts and budgets, including management fee, operating cost and headcount projections
- Experience in finance transformation, integration or cross-border financial reporting is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and give management meaningful insight
- Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across international teams
- Strong command of English. Mandarin proficiency is an advantage, as the role works regularly with the finance team in China
- Proactive and hands-on, comfortable working independently in a dynamic and evolving environment
What is on offer
- Oversight of GP finance, from consolidation through to Board and shareholder reporting
- Finance integration and transformation work as the group grows in scale and complexity
- Cross-border working with finance teams in other locations, including China
