Head of Front-EndEngineering

, you'll own the technical direction, quality, and delivery ofeverything our customers see and touch in TrueWatch. You'll lead the teambuilding our dashboards, query and exploration tools, alerting workflows, andreal-user monitoring experiences.

Observability UIs are data-dense and performance-critical: rendering millions of data points, live-streaming logs, and drilling throughdistributed traces in real time. You'll set the architecture, standards, andteam culture that make this fast, intuitive, and reliable at scale.

You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and theBack-End and Platform teams, and report to engineering leadership. This is ahands-on leadership role: you'll lead people and still shape critical code.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and teambuilding

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of front-end engineers, including hiring, onboarding, and career development.
• Build a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement across the front-end organisation.
• Run effective planning, code reviews, and engineering rituals that balance delivery speed with quality.

Technical directionand architecture

• Define and drive the front-end architecture, technical roadmap, and engineering standards for the TrueWatch platform.
• Architect high-performance visualisation for large, real-time telemetry datasets — charts, flame graphs, trace waterfalls, service maps, and live log tails.
• Own and evolve our design system and component library to keep the product consistent and fast to build on.
• Set standards for performance, accessibility, testing, security, and front-end observability (including our own RUM).

Delivery and collaboration

• Partner with Product and Design to turn complex workflows into intuitive experiences for SREs, DevOps, and developers.
• Work with Back-End and Platform teams on API contracts (REST, gRPC-Web, GraphQL) and query patterns that keep the UI responsive.
• Own front-end build, CI/CD, release, and quality processes, including feature flagging and safe rollouts.
• Support multi-region deployments and localisation for our customers.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of front-end engineering experience,including 3+ years leading engineering teams, preferably in B2B SaaS ordeveloper tools.
• Deep expertise in

TypeScript

and

React

, and the architecture oflarge, complex single-page applications.

• Proven track record of building high-performance,data-intensive UIs, such as dashboards, analytics, or real-time monitoringproducts.
• Strong grasp of browser performance: renderingpipelines, memory management, virtualisation, Web Workers, and Canvas/WebGL.
• Experience building and scaling design systems andcomponent libraries.
• Solid understanding of API design and how front-end andback-end systems work together in distributed, cloud-native architectures.
• A track record of hiring, developing, and retainingstrong engineers, and of making clear technical decisions under trade-offs.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability toalign product, design, and engineering stakeholders.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environmentwith an ownership-driven culture.
