NPI Assistant Engineer (1 position)

Semipack Malaysia Sdn Bhd · Sendayan, Seremban · On-site · Full-time (Permanent) · Normal working hours (no shift)

We make carrier tape and cover tape for the semiconductor back-end industry. We are looking for an NPI Assistant Engineer to help take new products from first sample to stable mass production.

What you'll do

• Support new product introduction (NPI) projects from customer sample request to mass production release
• Design, or follow up with vendors on, new moulds, jigs and fixtures; check them against drawings and run trials until they are approved
• Prepare and run engineering trials and sample builds; record and analyse the results
• Check samples against customer drawings and specifications (e.g. pocket dimensions, sealing / peel strength) and prepare first article and qualification reports
• Communicate directly with customers on sample requirements, technical questions, feedback and approvals
• Visit customer sites for sample evaluation, trials and technical discussions
• Prepare and update NPI documents such as BOMs, drawings, work instructions and process parameter sheets
• Work with Production, QA/QC, Engineering and Sales to solve trial issues and hand over new products to production
• Track NPI project timelines and report progress to the superior
• Any other tasks assigned by the superior

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Electrical/Electronics, Materials or Polymer) or Science
• Fresh graduates are welcome; 1–2 years of experience in semiconductor or manufacturing (NPI, process, tooling or quality) is an advantage
• Able to read engineering drawings; AutoCAD or SolidWorks for mould / jig / fixture design
• Good communication skills in English for working directly with customers
• Mandarin is an advantage (to communicate with China HQ)
• Willing to travel to customer sites
• Familiar with Microsoft Excel and report writing
• Analytical, detail-oriented and a good team player
