Our client is a large, established organisation in Singapore undergoing a significant technology transformation. They are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer - Software Engineering (Director Level) to provide enterprise-wide technical leadership, shape engineering strategy and drive the modernisation of business-critical platforms. This is a senior technical leadership role with broad influence over software architecture, engineering standards, platform reliability and strategic technology decisions.

Role

Reporting into senior technology leadership, you will be responsible for defining the technical direction and engineering standards across a complex, multi-platform environment. You will lead architectural decisions, establish common engineering practices and drive the adoption of modern software development approaches across multiple business domains. Key priorities include strengthening platform resilience, advancing SRE and observability practices, improving application security and engineering quality, and introducing AI-driven development and automation across the software delivery lifecycle. You will also work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to shape technology investment decisions, develop engineering capabilities and drive greater ownership of systems from development through production.

Requirements

You are an experienced engineering leader who has held senior technical authority across large-scale software engineering environments, ideally within financial services or other highly regulated industries. You bring extensive experience in distributed systems architecture, microservices, Kubernetes and cloud platforms, alongside a solid understanding of SRE, observability, application security and engineering governance. You have demonstrated the ability to define enterprise engineering strategies, modernise complex technology environments and lead engineering organisations through senior technical leaders. Familiarity with AI-assisted software engineering and experience influencing executive-level technology decisions will be important. Experience working with mission-critical, high-availability platforms would be advantageous.
