Role Summary

On behalf of our client—a high-growth, market-leading insurtech platform headquartered in Southeast Asia—we are seeking a skilled Mobile Software Engineer specializing in either Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift) to build next-generation, AI-driven mobile products.

In this role, core engineering depth and architectural judgment take center stage. You will focus primarily on delivering robust, high-performance native applications, while integrating intelligent capabilities—from streaming AI interfaces to on-device inference—to serve millions of end users.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and ship production-grade native applications with a primary focus on core mobile language depth (Kotlin for Android; Swift/SwiftUI for iOS).
• Design clean, reliable client architectures capable of handling local data persistence (Room, SQLite, NoSQL, Core Data) and seamless synchronization with backend microservices.
• Integrate user-facing AI functionalities (such as conversational experiences, voice/vision features, and smart recommendations) via REST/gRPC backend endpoints.
• Architect resilient mobile UI/UX patterns tailored to handle latency, token streaming states, graceful fallbacks, and retry logic for non-deterministic AI behavior.
• Collaborate with backend and ML teams to implement lightweight on-device inference (e.g., TensorFlow Lite, ML Kit, CoreML) where practical, minimizing network round trips without bloating client overhead.
• Profile and optimize app performance, memory management, thread concurrency, and battery consumption across a diverse matrix of consumer hardware.
• Maintain rigorous production standards, including automated unit/UI tests, monitoring, crash triage, and release stability on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Must-Have Core Depth: Strong, hands-on software development experience building and shipping complex production apps in your primary language:
• Android Track: Deep, idiomatic Kotlin proficiency (with solid Java fundamentals) and mastery of modern Android architectural components and asynchronous patterns (Coroutines, Flow).
• iOS Track: Deep Swift proficiency (SwiftUI / UIKit) with a firm command of concurrency (async/await, GCD) and native lifecycle management.
• Engineering Fundamentals & Craft: A focus on substance over checklist-matching. We prioritize solid software design patterns, clean code discipline, architectural judgment, and an ability to reason through edge cases over surface-level familiarity with multiple frameworks.
• Data Storage & Networking (Working Knowledge): Practical understanding of local mobile databases (SQL/NoSQL solutions like Room or SQLite) and local caching strategies, with a clear mental model of how mobile clients efficiently exchange data with backend services.
• On-Device ML & AI Integration (Nice-to-Have): Experience with on-device machine learning inference (TensorFlow Lite, ML Kit, CoreML) or consuming streaming LLM endpoints is an added plus. We do not reject strong mobile engineers solely for lacking direct ML exposure—depth in core mobile engineering comes first.
• Proven Track Record: Tangible history of architecting, publishing, and maintaining stable, responsive applications deployed to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
