Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 2nd Engineer to join our vessel. The 2nd Engineer is a vital member of the engineering team, responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all machinery and systems onboard, under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Engineer in the overall management and operation of the engine room and all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Supervise and direct junior engineers and engine room ratings, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, boilers, purifiers, and other critical machinery.
• Conduct regular engine room watchkeeping duties, monitoring machinery performance, and responding promptly to alarms or malfunctions.
• Manage bunker operations, including planning, supervision of loading/unloading, and accurate record-keeping of fuel and lubricants.
• Ensure compliance with all international and national maritime regulations, including STCW, MARPOL, and ISM Code.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and fuel/lubricant consumption.
• Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures, conducting safety drills and ensuring a safe working environment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Participate in dry dock planning and execution, overseeing repair work and ensuring quality standards.
• Manage the ordering and inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables for the engine department.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engine room operations and efficiency.
