Our client is a leading technology company building a next-generation platform that powers real-time, device-integrated systems at scale. They are looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to own their backend architecture and drive the platform's next phase of growth.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone passionate about system architecture, performance, and reliability in a high-traffic, IoT-driven environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead backend architecture and system & solution design
- Own end-to-end delivery of backend services
- Ensure high availability, scalability, performance and security
- Drive engineering best practices, code quality, and design reviews
- Improve database performance, indexing strategies, query efficiency, and overall cost optimization
- Lead production incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Design and implement event-driven and asynchronous systems
- Work closely with DevOps on deployment, monitoring, and reliability
- Balance speed of delivery with long-term scalability and maintainability
- Mentor engineers and drive technical initiatives across teams
What You'll Need
- Strong experience in Golang and building production systems; Beginner to Intermediate knowledge in Java is a plus
- Deep understanding of concurrency, memory profiling, and performance optimization
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and system-to-system integrations
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience with PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS
- Experience with event streaming systems (e.g., Kafka) and real-time communication protocol (e.g., WebSockets)
- Hands-on experience debugging production issues
- Familiarity with cloud-native deployments (Azure or AWS)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong grasp of system design, scalability, and failure handling
- Experience working on high-traffic or real-time systems
- Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
Good to Have
- Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar)
- Experience with observability tools (Datadog, Sentry or similar)
- Prior experience in large-scale IoT, connected devices, or smart infrastructure platforms
- Familiarity with device communication protocols and platform integrations
- Experience working with distributed or device-integrated systems
- Exposure to payment systems, billing workflows, or transaction-heavy platforms
