Job Summary

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, beverages, and other drinks according to the company's recipes, quality standards, and service procedures. The position requires good product knowledge, attention to detail, cleanliness, and excellent customer service to ensure a positive guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Beverage Preparation

• Prepare coffee, tea, specialty beverages, juices, smoothies, and other drinks according to standard recipes.
• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment safely and correctly.
• Ensure consistency in beverage taste, presentation, temperature, and portion size.
• Prepare and serve beverages promptly according to customer orders.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and freshness of coffee beans, milk, syrups, garnishes, and other ingredients.

Customer Service

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take customer orders accurately and process orders through the POS system where applicable.
• Provide information regarding beverages, ingredients, and available menu items.
• Handle customer requests, feedback, and complaints professionally and refer serious issues to the supervisor or Outlet Manager.
• Maintain a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere at the beverage counter.

Cashiering & Order Handling

• Receive and process customer payments accurately where assigned.
• Issue receipts and ensure correct order and payment records.
• Check orders before serving to ensure accuracy.
• Follow company procedures for discounts, voids, refunds, and complimentary items.

Cleanliness & Hygiene

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the bar, counter, equipment, utensils, and work area.
• Clean and sanitize coffee machines, grinders, blenders, refrigerators, and other equipment according to the required schedule.
• Follow food safety, personal hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ensure ingredients are properly labelled, stored, and rotated according to FIFO principles.
• Dispose of waste properly and minimize unnecessary wastage.

Stock & Inventory

• Monitor beverage ingredients, packaging materials, and other supplies.
• Inform the supervisor of low-stock or damaged items.
• Assist with stock receiving, storage, counting, and inventory checks when required.
• Minimize product wastage and ensure proper portion control.

Opening & Closing Duties

• Complete assigned opening and closing duties according to the outlet checklist.
• Set up the beverage station before operations commence.
• Ensure all equipment is switched off, cleaned, and secured after operations.
• Ensure the bar area is properly stocked and ready for the next operating period.
• Teamwork & Operations
• Work closely with service crew, kitchen staff, cashier, and supervisors to ensure smooth outlet operations.
• Assist other departments or outlet sections when required.
• Attend staff briefings, training sessions, and meetings as required.
• Follow all company policies, SOPs, work schedules, and instructions from management.

Job Requirements

• Minimum SPM / equivalent qualification preferred.
• Previous experience as a Barista, Café Crew, Beverage Crew, or in F&B is an advantage.
• Fresh candidates may be considered and provided with training.
• Basic knowledge of coffee preparation and beverage-making techniques.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced restaurant or café environment.
• Able to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Well-groomed, responsible, punctual, and disciplined.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
