Blackstone is growing the team behind our AI-powered tools, and we're looking for an entry-level AI & Prompt Engineer to help build, test, and refine the prompts and AI workflows that make them work. Our tools build solutions for the energy industry spanning everything from process design to technical evaluation models to well-cycle workflows, and this is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who wants to spend their days actually building with large language models, not just reading about them.

About the Role

A year into this role, you'll have built and maintained a working library of prompts and evaluation sets that keep our AI-powered tools accurate and reliable, and you'll have a track record of turning messy, real-world engineering scenarios into prompts and workflows that hold up in production. You'll work closely with our product and engineering team, with plenty of room to learn and grow into a more senior AI engineering role.

What You'll Do

•      Help build AI-powered solutions for the energy industry — spanning process design, technical evaluation models, and well-cycle workflows

•      Design, test, and iterate on prompts that power Blackstone's AI-driven tools and features

•      Build and maintain a library of prompt templates and evaluation datasets

•      Run structured experiments to measure prompt performance (accuracy, cost, latency) and document what you find

•      Work with product and engineering to translate real drilling and engineering scenarios into effective prompts and workflows

•      Monitor model outputs for errors, bias, or drift, and flag or fix issues quickly

•      Stay current on LLM tools and techniques, and bring relevant ideas back to the team

•      Document prompt engineering standards and best practices as the team's library grows

What We're Looking For

Required

•      Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

•      A solid understanding of how large language models work, with hands-on experience prompting them — through coursework, personal projects, internships, or work experience

•      Comfortable writing basic scripts in Python (or similar) to test and evaluate prompts at scale

•      Strong analytical and written communication skills — able to document clearly what worked, what didn't, and why

•      Curious and detail-oriented, comfortable iterating through ambiguity

Preferred

•      Exposure to LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or frameworks like LangChain

•      Familiarity with evaluation or testing frameworks for AI systems

•      Interest in energy, oil & gas, or other industrial applications of AI

•      Experience with version control (Git)
