Our client is a well-known brand in the retail sector, seeking a Lead, Risk Assurance & Business Controls to strengthen its risk governance, operational controls and assurance framework across its multi-site operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing operational risk frameworks, control guidelines and assessment methodologies, ensuring that regulatory requirements and internal policies are translated into practical business processes. You will conduct risk-based assessments, independent control reviews and on-site evaluations to assess compliance with established policies and procedures, identify control gaps and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.

Working closely with business and operational stakeholders, you will facilitate root-cause analysis, recommend practical improvements and monitor corrective actions to ensure identified issues are resolved effectively. You will also maintain risk registers and control inventories, establish risk indicators and monitoring thresholds, and analyse operational data and exception reports to identify emerging risks, unusual patterns and areas requiring further attention.Beyond assurance activities, you will prepare management reports, risk dashboards and control performance updates, presenting key findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. You will also collaborate with business and technology teams to enhance risk monitoring capabilities, improve reporting processes and explore opportunities for data analytics and automation to strengthen control effectiveness. The role involves providing guidance to business teams on risk mitigation and control implementation while promoting accountability, sound governance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Ideally you are a Degree holder with 8–10 years of relevant experience in internal audit operational risk, risk management, compliance, business controls or assurance. You should possess a good understanding of risk governance frameworks, control assessments, issue management and root-cause analysis, supported by strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in multi-site operations, GRC platforms, risk dashboards or data-driven monitoring will be advantageous.
