Overview

Our client is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop firmware for optical communication hardware. You will work across embedded software, hardware integration, testing, and production support to deliver reliable monitoring and control functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware for optical modules, optical engines, and associated controller platforms.
• Implement drivers and communication interfaces for MCUs, DSPs, and peripheral devices using I2C, SPI, UART, MDIO, and GPIO.
• Build device initialization, configuration, diagnostics, fault detection, alarm, and protection functions.0
• Develop control algorithms for laser operation, optical power, and temperature, including feedback loops and automatic adjustment.
• Implement monitoring for power consumption, supply status, and thermal conditions.
• Manage non-volatile memory for device settings, calibration records, product identification, and manufacturing data.
• Integrate firmware with host applications, laboratory equipment, and automated test platforms.
• Support hardware bring-up, investigate system issues, and resolve firmware and hardware integration problems through development and production introduction.
• Maintain firmware architecture, interface specifications, technical documentation, and source code version control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Communications, Automation, Microelectronics, or a related discipline.
• Strong C/C++ skills and hands-on MCU development experience.
• Familiarity with ARM processors and bare-metal or RTOS development.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, MDIO, GPIO, and hardware debugging tools.
• Understanding of optical components and their monitoring and control requirements.
• Experience with Git and embedded development tools.
• Python scripting and experience with CPO, high-speed optical modules, DSPs, or SerDes are advantageous.
