We are seeking engineering leaders to shape the architecture, delivery and long-term evolution of complex, large-scale software products. The opportunities span greenfield development and the modernisation of mission-critical platforms, tackling challenges involving complex business workflows, multiple system integrations, high availability, security and regulatory requirements. Depending on your experience, the scope ranges from hands-on engineering and team leadership to broader ownership of technical strategy, multiple engineering teams and organisational capability.
Job Description
- Own technical direction and architecture: Define engineering roadmaps, guide system design and make technology decisions that balance product needs with scalability, reliability, maintainability and cost.
- Lead end-to-end product engineering: Oversee development from discovery and technical design through implementation, deployment and ongoing production ownership.
- Build and modernise complex systems: Lead greenfield initiatives, evolve existing platforms and address technical debt while maintaining service continuity.
- Develop high-performing teams: Hire, coach and support engineers and technical leads, providing clear direction, meaningful feedback and opportunities for growth.
- Stay close to the technology: Contribute through architecture reviews, code reviews, prototyping and complex problem-solving, with hands-on involvement appropriate to the role and seniority.
- Partner across functions: Work with product, design, business, security and platform teams to translate evolving requirements into practical solutions, resolve dependencies and align delivery priorities.
- Raise engineering standards: Strengthen automated testing, continuous delivery, observability and secure development practices, improving both developer productivity and production reliability.
- Drive broader engineering strategy: For senior leadership appointments, shape team structures, resource planning, cross-team execution and longer-term capability development.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in building and delivering production software and a demonstrated track record in technical or engineering leadership.
- Experience developing complex in-house software products, such as web or mobile applications, enterprise platforms, transactional systems or distributed services.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams, including mentoring, delivery ownership and people development.
- Strong system-design and architecture skills, with experience addressing challenges such as complex workflows, service integration, data consistency, performance, resilience and security.
- A credible hands-on engineering background and the ability to evaluate technical approaches, challenge design decisions and guide engineers through difficult problems.
- Technology backgrounds are flexible; strong fundamentals and sound engineering judgement matter more than a particular language or framework.
- Practical understanding of modern software delivery, including cloud environments, APIs, databases, automated testing, deployment pipelines and production monitoring.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs, navigate ambiguity and align teams around clear outcomes.
- Experience with greenfield product development, legacy modernisation, regulated environments or the delivery of AI-enabled software capabilities would be advantageous.
