Kubernetes Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Kubernetes Operations Engineer to provide frontline support, troubleshooting, and resolution for production Kubernetes clusters across AWS, Alibaba Cloud (AliCloud), GCP, and on-premises environments.

The role involves owning support tickets from intake through resolution, diagnosing cluster and networking issues, managing cluster lifecycle operations, and supporting internal developer platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong production experience across at least two cloud providers and excellent written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Kubernetes cluster lifecycle, including creation, updates, deletion, node pool management, and stuck-state recovery.
• Perform Kubernetes version upgrades and troubleshoot upgrade failures, RBAC, kubeconfig, kubectl, and API server issues.
• Support managed Kubernetes platforms across AWS EKS, GCP GKE, and Alibaba Cloud ACK.
• Troubleshoot cloud components, load balancers, DNS, subnet reconciliation, and cluster-to-database connectivity.
• Support cluster manifests, YAML validation, deployment errors, and platform add-ons.
• Monitor and troubleshoot using Prometheus, kube-state-metrics, and Splunk.
• Support Spinnaker, KEDA, compliance onboarding, and backup services.
• Diagnose networking issues involving routing, TLS, proxies, CIDR planning, ingress, and firewall/ACL rules.
• Own tickets from intake through resolution, including severity assessment, escalation, and written closure.
• Conduct outage investigations, prepare formal root cause analysis (RCA) reports, and improve runbooks and automation.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in Kubernetes operations, cloud infrastructure support, SRE, or cloud operations engineering.
• Deep production experience with managed Kubernetes on at least one provider and working competence on a second.
• Hands-on experience with at least two of AWS EKS, GCP GKE, and Alibaba Cloud ACK.
• Strong troubleshooting skills covering pods, nodes, volumes, CNI, cluster events, and API server behavior.
• Knowledge of IAM, workload identity, service accounts, policy troubleshooting, and Kubernetes RBAC.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including routing, DNS, TLS, proxies, CIDR planning, and load balancers.
• Scripting skills in Python or Bash, with proficiency in kubectl and cloud-provider CLIs.
• Experience managing support tickets through resolution and documenting outcomes.
• Excellent written English.
