• Own the production reliability of our SDN / virtual networking system, covering the distributed control plane, host data plane, and programmable switch components. Establish and continuously improve reliability objectives and operational standards.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and lead complex incident response. Diagnose issues using system state, logs, metrics, and network traffic, and drive service recovery, root cause analysis, and completion of corrective actions.
• Build and improve monitoring and alerting across service availability, control plane convergence, and data plane connectivity and performance. Improve issue detection and reduce alert noise.
• Proactively identify reliability risks and drive improvements in capacity management, fault isolation, overload protection, disaster recovery, and failure drills. Work with development teams to address reliability issues in system architecture and implementation.
• Drive the development of AI-powered operations by integrating knowledge bases, monitoring data, diagnostic tools, and Ansible workflows. Progressively enable alert analysis, assisted troubleshooting, and controlled automated remediation, with effectiveness evaluation, access controls, and audit mechanisms.

• Experience in SRE, infrastructure operations, or platform engineering in production environments, with the ability to independently own the reliability of critical systems and a track record of resolving complex production incidents.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems and networking, with the ability to diagnose performance and reliability issues involving CPU, memory, storage, networking, and processes.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, tunneling, and virtual networking fundamentals. Ability to troubleshoot network issues end to end using packet captures, system tools, and monitoring data.
• Understanding of common distributed system mechanisms and failure modes, including high availability, state synchronization, consistency, timeouts and retries, dependency failures, and overload. Ability to assess the business impact of control plane issues.
• Hands-on production experience with Ansible, including designing and maintaining playbooks and addressing concerns such as idempotency, failure recovery, and validation of execution results.

Good to Have

• Experience building and operating large-scale SDN, cloud networking, virtual networking, or Kubernetes networking systems.
• Familiarity with one or more of eBPF, OVS, P4, or programmable switches, with relevant development, debugging, or production troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with fault injection, capacity modeling, large-scale cluster upgrades, or disaster recovery across failure domains.
• Experience with AI-assisted operations, AI agents, RAG, tool calling, or automated diagnostics, with the ability to evaluate their practical effectiveness.
