Supports or leads financial reporting, accounting controls, planning, and finance operations for a business unit, company, or region. Works with finance colleagues and business leaders to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful for managing performance. Scope depends on the position: an Assistant Finance Manager supports the finance lead and day-to-day finance activities; a Finance Controller owns financial control and reporting for an entity or division; and a Regional Financial Controller oversees reporting, control, and planning across multiple locations or entities.

Oversees or supports monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Reviews general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, intercompany balances, and supporting schedules. Ensures financial statements and management reports are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. Investigates variances and unusual transactions, resolves reporting issues, and works with teams to maintain complete and accurate records.

Coordinates budgets, forecasts, cash flow planning, and financial analysis with business leaders. Explains results against plans, highlights risks and opportunities, and supports decisions on spending, investments, pricing, and operational priorities. Monitors working capital, costs, revenue, and other performance measures, and recommends actions to improve financial results.

Maintains internal controls and supports compliance with accounting, tax, audit, and statutory reporting requirements. Coordinates with external auditors, tax advisers, banks, and regional finance teams as needed. A Regional Financial Controller may oversee consolidation, intercompany reporting, currency translation, and consistent control practices across entities while supporting local reporting requirements. May lead finance staff, manage systems and process improvements, and present financial updates to senior management.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent is typically preferred
• Experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit, controlling, or finance management
• Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting standards, close processes, reconciliations, and internal controls
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and variance analysis
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and enterprise resource planning or financial reporting systems
• Ability to review complex financial information, identify issues, and explain findings clearly
• Strong organization and attention to detail, especially when managing close and reporting deadlines
• Communication and business partnering skills for working with operational leaders and finance teams
• Experience coordinating audits, tax schedules, statutory reporting, and compliance activities is an asset
• Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial information
• Experience managing or developing finance staff may be required for controller-level roles
• Multi-entity, multi-currency, or regional finance experience is beneficial for Regional Financial Controller positions
• Familiarity with process improvement, finance transformation, and system implementations is an asset
