Job Description: Site Engineer

Job Title: Site Engineer
Department: Construction / Project Management
Reports To: Project Manager / Construction Manager

Job Summary

The Site Engineer is responsible for supervising daily construction activities, ensuring that work is carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The role involves coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and project teams to ensure timely and efficient project completion.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision

   • Supervise daily construction activities and monitor site progress.

   • Ensure construction work follows approved drawings and specifications.

   • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

   • Resolve site-related technical issues and report major concerns to the Project Manager.

2. Technical and Engineering Work

   • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.

   • Carry out site measurements, setting out, and level checks.

   • Verify dimensions, alignment, levels, and quantities.

   • Coordinate drawing revisions and technical clarifications with consultants.

3. Quality Control

   • Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with quality standards.

   • Coordinate inspections with consultants and clients.

   • Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are completed.

   • Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.

4. Health, Safety and Environment

   • Ensure compliance with site safety rules and applicable regulations.

   • Identify unsafe conditions and report hazards.

   • Coordinate with safety personnel to maintain a safe working environment.

   • Ensure workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

5. Progress Monitoring and Reporting

   • Monitor daily work progress against the project schedule.

   • Prepare daily site reports and progress updates.

   • Record manpower, material usage, site activities, and delays.

   • Assist in preparing work schedules and progress reports.

6. Coordination and Documentation

   • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

   • Attend site meetings and follow up on action items.

   • Maintain site records, inspection reports, and construction documents.

   • Assist with material requests, quantity measurements, and project handover.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• Relevant experience in construction site supervision.

• Good knowledge of construction methods, drawings, and specifications.

• Ability to coordinate site teams and solve technical problems.

• Good communication, reporting, and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Excel, and construction documentation is an advantage.

• Familiarity with relevant local building codes and workplace safety requirements.
