REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Strong professional background in teaching and education.
- Proven experience as a Principal, Head of School, or equivalent senior school leader.
- Significant experience managing the overall operation of a school.
- Strong knowledge of the Malaysian education market.
- Proven executive leadership experience at CEO, COO, Managing Director, or equivalent level.
- Experience managing budgets, P&L, people, operations, and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of international/private school operations.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, Leadership, or related discipline.
- Experience within an international school environment.
- Experience with international curricula such as British, IB, American, Australian, or Cambridge programmes.
- Experience working with school owners, boards, investors, or education groups.
- Experience in school expansion, turnaround, new school setup, or business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the school's overall strategic direction and long-term growth plan.
- Translate the Board's vision and objectives into clear operational and commercial strategies.
- Establish annual business, academic, enrolment, and financial objectives.
- Identify opportunities for school growth, expansion, partnerships, and new programmes.
- Monitor market trends and changes within the Malaysian and international education sectors.
- Ensure the school remains competitive within the Malaysian international school market.
B. Overall School Operations
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the school.
- Oversee academic, administrative, financial, HR, admissions, marketing, facilities, and student support functions.
- Ensure effective coordination between academic and non-academic departments.
- Establish appropriate management systems, policies, procedures, and reporting structures.
- Monitor operational performance and ensure agreed KPIs are achieved.
- Identify operational risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
C. Academic & Educational Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership on academic quality and educational standards.
- Work closely with the Principal and academic leadership team to maintain high teaching and learning standards.
- Ensure curriculum delivery meets applicable Malaysian requirements and the school's international curriculum standards.
- Monitor student academic performance, learning outcomes, and overall educational experience.
- Promote continuous improvement in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and educational programmes.
- Ensure safeguarding, student welfare, and child protection standards are properly implemented.
Required Educational Background
The CEO must demonstrate a strong professional background in teaching and education, including substantial experience within a school environment.
Experience in teaching, academic leadership, curriculum development, and school management will be highly valued.
D. Principal / School Leadership Experience
The successful candidate must have direct experience serving as a Principal, Head of School, or equivalent senior school leadership position.
Responsibilities should include experience in:
- Managing the overall school operation.
- Leading academic and administrative teams.
- Managing teachers and support staff.
- Student enrolment and retention.
- Parent and stakeholder engagement.
- Budget and financial management.
- School policies and procedures.
- Regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- School improvement and development.
- Crisis and risk management.
E. Malaysian Education Market
The CEO must possess deep knowledge and understanding of the Malaysian education market, particularly the international and private school sector.
This should include understanding of:
- Malaysian education regulations and requirements.
- International school market dynamics.
- Parent and student expectations.
- Student recruitment and enrolment trends.
- Competitive positioning.
- Tuition fee structures.
- International curricula.
- School accreditation and quality standards.
- Education business development opportunities.
- Local and international education trends.
Strong existing relationships within the Malaysian education sector will be an advantage.
F. Executive Leadership & Business Management
The CEO must demonstrate executive-level leadership capability equivalent to CEO/COO level.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the school's executive management team.
- Establish organisational objectives and performance KPIs.
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget.
- Monitor revenue, expenditure, profitability, and cash flow.
- Ensure financial sustainability of the school.
- Review departmental performance and management reports.
- Make strategic business and operational decisions.
- Present business performance and strategic recommendations to the Board.
- Build a high-performance leadership culture across the organisation.
G. Financial Management
- Take overall responsibility for the school's financial performance.
- Develop annual budgets and financial plans.
- Monitor revenue, operating costs, and profitability.
- Develop strategies to improve student enrolment and revenue.
- Monitor tuition fees, discounts, scholarships, and other revenue streams.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place.
- Work closely with Finance to monitor monthly P&L and cash flow.
- Report financial performance and forecasts to the Board.
H. Student Enrolment & Business Growth
- Develop strategies to increase student enrolment.
- Oversee Admissions, Marketing, and Business Development activities.
- Monitor student acquisition and conversion rates.
- Develop partnerships with education organisations, corporations, agents, and other stakeholders.
- Strengthen the school's market positioning and reputation.
- Improve student retention and parent satisfaction.
- Identify new revenue opportunities and education programmes.
I. People & Talent Management
- Lead and develop the school's senior management team.
- Establish performance expectations and KPIs.
- Ensure effective recruitment and retention of high-quality teachers and staff.
- Develop leadership succession plans.
- Promote professional development and continuous learning.
- Build a positive, accountable, and high-performance organisational culture.
- Address performance and employee relations matters appropriately.
J. Stakeholder & Parent Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with parents, students, staff, regulators, partners, and the Board.
- Represent the school at industry and education events.
- Communicate the school's vision, strategy, achievements, and development plans.
- Handle significant stakeholder concerns and escalated matters.
- Build trust and confidence in the school's leadership and direction.
K. Regulatory, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure the school operates in compliance with applicable Malaysian laws, regulations, licences, and education requirements.
- Ensure appropriate governance, policies, and internal controls are maintained.
- Monitor regulatory developments affecting international schools.
- Identify and manage operational, financial, academic, reputational, and safeguarding risks.
- Ensure appropriate crisis management and business continuity plans are established.
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month
