Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection, Building Services, or a related discipline.

• 2–5 years of BIM modelling experience, specifically in fire protection systems.

• Proficient in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.

• Familiarity with applicable fire protection standards, such as NFPA, FM Global requirements, and local fire codes.

• Experience in large-scale MEP or building construction projects is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in modelling and drawing preparation.

• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

• Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented BIM Modeller to develop and maintain fire protection system models for building and construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project teams, and other design disciplines to produce accurate BIM models and coordinated drawings that meet project specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements.

Job Description

The BIM Modeller will support the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) team by preparing BIM models and drawings for fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire hose reels, extinguishers, and fire alarms.

The role involves modelling, drawing preparation, multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection, and incorporating design changes throughout the project lifecycle. The candidate will also maintain model documentation and version control to ensure project teams have access to accurate and updated information.

Job Responsibilities

BIM Modelling and Drawing Preparation

• Develop, update, and maintain detailed fire protection BIM models using Autodesk Revit.

• Prepare shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.

• Incorporate engineering designs, technical specifications, and approved changes into models and drawings.

• Ensure BIM deliverables follow project modelling standards and submission requirements.

Design and Project Coordination

• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other MEP disciplines to integrate fire protection systems into the overall building design.

• Work closely with the internal project team to align BIM deliverables with project requirements and schedules.

• Support engineers in reviewing layouts, identifying coordination issues, and updating models.

• Attend site meetings, coordination meetings, and project reviews as required, providing BIM-related input.

Clash Detection and Resolution

• Perform clash detection using Navisworks or equivalent coordination tools.

• Identify conflicts between fire protection systems and other building services or structural elements.

• Coordinate proposed solutions with engineers and relevant disciplines.

• Update models and drawings to reflect agreed resolutions.

Quality and Compliance

• Check models and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission.

• Ensure modelled systems reflect approved designs, applicable fire protection standards, local fire codes, and client requirements.

• Follow project BIM procedures and quality control requirements.

Documentation and Model Management

• Maintain organised model files, drawing registers, and supporting documentation.

• Manage revisions and version control throughout the project lifecycle.

• Ensure updated models and drawings are accessible to the relevant project teams.

• Prepare and compile final BIM models and as-built drawings for project handover.
