Role Description:

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing data privacy and protection practices across client engagements and internal operations. The DPO monitors compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations, advises on privacy risks, and collaborates with legal, IT, and business stakeholders to implement appropriate safeguards. Daily activities include reviewing and updating privacy policies, assessing data processing activities, conducting and documenting privacy impact assessments, and responding to data subject requests. The role also involves coordinating incident response for potential data breaches, maintaining records of processing activities, and preparing reports and recommendations for leadership. The DPO will provide training and guidance on privacy compliance, support audits, and help integrate privacy-by-design principles into new projects and services.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in data privacy and privacy compliance, including practical experience with Data Privacy and Privacy Policies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance processes, with skills in Regulatory Compliance and Privacy Compliance.
• Background in law or legal studies (e.g., Law) relevant to data protection, information governance, or technology-related regulations.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable policies, procedures, and controls.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, or privacy impact assessments in a business or consulting environment.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the capacity to explain privacy requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications (such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or similar) and experience working with international data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) are highly beneficial.
