Carmel School is a leading international IB Continuum World School accredited to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). Carmel School is also accredited by WASC.
We are looking for a Supply Physical Education Teacher to provide on-call substitute coverage for our IB high school PE program.
Supply Physical Education Teacher
Job Duties
To deliver IB-aligned PE lessons for high school students during substitute assignments
To implement age-appropriate, standards-based lesson plans with clear learning objectives
To ensure safe instruction and follow safeguarding and duty-of-care requirements
To manage sport activities, equipment use, and student behavior during lessons
To support assessment and provide brief feedback when required
To follow school policies related to safeguarding, attendance, emergency/safety protocols and discipline
To work collaboratively with other teachers as needed
Requirements
An undergraduate degree and a recognized teacher certification, i.e. Bachelor’s degree in Education; or Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent
Experience teaching PE at high school is preferred
Familiarity with IB principles (e.g. inquiry, skill development) is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of sports pedagogy, fitness training basics, and safe practice
