about the job
We are seeking an experienced, high-caliber GL Manager to join our fast-paced Finance Shared Services team. This role is ideal for a hands-on, technically sharp accounting leader who excels in fluid, evolving environments. You will be responsible for overseeing financial close processes, technical accounting compliance, and complex account reconciliations.
Rather than simply managing pre-built routines, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and standardizing core accounting processes, establishing internal controls, and establishing frameworks as our organization grows and scales.
Lead end-to-end Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Closing (MEC) processes to ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
Oversee multi-entity and multi-currency general ledger accounting, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation workflows.
Conduct high-level variance analysis (Actuals vs. Budget/Prior Period) and present clear insights to senior leadership.
Act as the internal subject matter expert (SME) on technical accounting matters (IFRS / US GAAP / Local GAAP).
Handle non-routine, complex transactions, including lease accounting (IFRS 16 / ASC 842), revenue recognition (IFRS 15 / ASC 606), foreign exchange adjustments, and financial instruments.
Draft technical accounting memos and partner with internal/external auditors to drive smooth audit sign-offs.
Evaluate current GL processes, identify inefficiencies, and design/implement standardized workflows and operating procedures from the ground up.
Map and strengthen internal control frameworks (SOX compliance or equivalent internal control standards).
Assist with ERP/system enhancement initiatives, system automation, and cross-functional process alignment.
Lead, mentor, and upskill a team of GL accountants and specialists.
Manage cross-functional relationships across Regional Finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and business operations to resolve operational bottlenecks.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
Professional Certification: CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is required.
Experience:
7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or team lead capacity within a Shared Services Center (SSC) or multinational environment.
Strong foundation in public accounting (Big 4 / mid-tier audit background highly preferred).
Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP.
Proficiency in enterprise ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Workday).
Strong Excel skills (financial modeling, complex data reconciliation, macro/automation knowledge is a plus).
