Job Summary

Join our ship chandling team as a Purchaser, supporting procurement and supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery of vessel supplies. This role offers on-the-job training and career growth in the maritime industry.

Responsibilities

Source and purchase ship supplies, marine equipment, spare parts, safety equipment, and other vessel requirements to meet operational needs

Request and compare quotations from local and overseas suppliers to identify cost-effective options

Assist in negotiating prices and verifying product availability and delivery lead times to ensure timely procurement

Prepare purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records for audit and tracking purposes

Follow up with suppliers on order status, delivery schedules, and outstanding items to prevent delays

Coordinate with sales, operations, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods to vessels

Verify supplier quotations, invoices, and delivery orders for accuracy to maintain financial and inventory control

Source alternative suppliers for urgent or hard-to-find items to minimize supply disruptions

Maintain proper filing of purchasing documents and update internal systems to support efficient record keeping

Perform other purchasing and administrative duties as assigned to support team operations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

Graduates from Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related courses are preferred

Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office to support daily procurement tasks

Good communication and coordination skills to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams

Responsible, organised, proactive, and willing to learn to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Ability to manage multiple tasks with good attention to detail and a positive working attitude

Proficiency in English for effective communication; knowledge of Mandarin is advantageous for liaising with suppliers who communicate in Mandarin
