Jobs Kreate is recruiting on behalf of a client for a shipboard Assistant Baker position. The successful candidate will support the Baker and Head Baker in producing bakery items on time while maintaining consistent quality, cleanliness and food-safety standards onboard.

Build your international culinary career while sailing to exciting destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The actual vessel, itinerary and sailing region will be assigned by the company based on operational requirements.

Important: Cruise ship grading may differ from land-based hospitality structures. Candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, subject to the cruise line’s assessment and operational requirements.

• Open to Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.

• This is a full-time position. Part-time applications will not be considered.

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Baker or in a similar position within a 4-star or 5-star hospitality or restaurant environment.

• Basic professional baking skills are required.

• Able to prepare bread rolls, Danish pastries, breads and simple bakery showpieces.

• Advanced showpiece preparation skills are an advantage.

• Able to operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.

• Able to follow recipes, production methods and instructions from the Head Baker.

• Strong knowledge of food safety, public health and sanitation procedures.

• Fluent in English with the ability to understand menus, recipes and operational instructions.

• Additional language abilities are an advantage.

• Able to work efficiently and productively across different bakery sections.

• Physically able to stand for extended periods and handle items weighing 50+ lbs.

• Able to work a minimum of 11 hours per day, 7 days per week while onboard.

• Flexible, dependable and able to perform effectively under pressure.

• Professional appearance and high personal hygiene standards.

Salary

• Salary: USD 1,400

• Contract duration: 6 months

• Support the Baker and Head Baker in producing bakery items according to the daily production schedule.

• Prepare bread rolls, Danish pastries, breads and simple bakery showpieces.

• Follow approved menus, recipes, methods and quality standards.

• Maintain consistent food quality within the assigned bakery section.

• Complete mise-en-place before each service.

• Control food production and minimise unnecessary wastage.

• Follow correct food preparation, storage and handling procedures.

• Maintain clean-as-you-go practices throughout production.

• Clean, sanitise and store bakery equipment correctly after use.

• Separate and dispose of waste according to public health procedures.

• Work in different bakery sections for training or operational requirements.

• Handle bakery equipment and company property safely and responsibly.

• Follow all onboard public health, environmental, PPE, safety, security and emergency procedures.
