Role Overview

The Data Engineering Lead will lead the delivery of Snowflake data engineering workstreams. The role will translate the target architecture into working data pipelines, governed data products and operational processes, while guiding the Data Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of data pipelines and data products on Snowflake.
• Implement data ingestion, transformation and refresh processes across Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum layers.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for data modelling, coding, testing, documentation and deployment.
• Lead implementation of data quality checks, reconciliation, lineage and monitoring.
• Work with the Solution Architect on RBAC, data classification, masking and secure data sharing requirements.
• Manage the promotion of Snowflake objects and data pipelines across Dev, UAT and Production using CI/CD.
• Guide and review the work of Data Engineers; resolve technical issues and delivery risks.
• Support stakeholder requirements gathering and translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
• Develop runbooks, technical documentation and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Support ongoing platform operations, including pipeline failures, data issues, user access and performance optimisation.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 6 years of data engineering experience, including at least 1 years of Snowflake experience.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, including Snowpark Python where applicable.
• Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines, data models and data marts.
• Experience with Snowflake features such as Dynamic Tables, Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, stages and secure data sharing.
• Experience with data quality, testing, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Git-based CI/CD and deployment processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical delivery and mentor engineers.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage and Power BI.
• Experience implementing Snowflake RBAC, masking policies, tagging and classification.
• Snowflake certification.
