Job Description:
· Report to and support the Team Head in overseeing accounting, administrative and corporate services matters, and provide timely updates on key discussions, issues and follow-up actions.
· Act as a key liaison between the Singapore office and Japan HQ, communicating in Japanese on administrative and corporate services matters, including financial directions and reporting requirements, and report relevant discussion and outcome to the Singapore branch.
· Prepare and submit reports, internal approval requests, management updates and supporting documents in Japanese as required by Japan HQ, and coordinate the necessary information and follow-up with relevant internal stakeholders.
· Supervise the Accounting team and ensure financial reporting complies with Singapore accounting and statutory requirements, as well as relevant Japan HQ accounting, consolidation and reporting requirements.
· Suppor tmonth-end and year-end closing activities and the preparation of management and financial reports.
· Support budget monitoring, cost tracking and budget-versus-actual analysis.
· Support GST, withholding tax and other relevant tax and regulatory matters.
· Serve as the main internal contact for reviewing contracts and agreements, assess their alignment with Japan HQ requirements and applicable Singapore practices, and coordinate with external legal counsel where specialist legal advice is required.
· Oversee and strengthen the asset and facility management function by establishing clear frameworks for asset registration, inventory verification, maintenance planning, record-keeping and control procedures, and ensure their effective implementation.
· Support the development of staff engagement initiatives and career progression programmes.
· Assist the Team Head in cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
· Perform other duties reasonably assigned in support of business and operational requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field (Economics, Accounting, etc.)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of both Singapore and Japanese accounting and financial reporting requirements (IFRS), including taxation and transfer pricing matters.
- Experience in creating, reviewing and coordinating contracts and agreements, including employment contracts, NDAs, project agreements, intellectual property agreements and collaboration agreements, and identifying matters that require specialist legal advice.
- Good understanding of the construction industry, with practical hands-on administrative experience at project or construction sites.
- Experience in accounting and financial management within an R&D organization, with a solid understanding of research and development tax incentives, schemes and regulatory requirements in both Singapore and Japan.
- Strong spoken and written proficiency in English and Japanese, as the role requires regular communication with Japan HQ in Japanese, including preparing reports and internal approval submissions, conducting discussions and delivering presentations in Japanese.
