Job Description
Renesas Electronics is looking for Staff Quality Engineer to support highly demanding strategic customers by driving disciplined technical quality execution across advanced semiconductor technologies. This role serves as a trusted customer-facing quality expert, leading complex escalations, translating customer expectations into internal execution plans, and strengthening customer confidence through clear communication, data-driven analysis, and measurable quality improvement.
The Staff Quality Engineer will operate at both technical and customer-engagement levels, partnering with internal stakeholders and customer teams to manage high-visibility quality concerns, anticipate customer risk, drive rapid containment and corrective action, and ensure consistent executive-level communication without direct people-management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Quality Support: Serve as a technical quality contact for key customers, supporting quality reviews, technical discussions, and escalations.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze customer quality metrics (PPM, RMA, failure analysis requests, audits, scorecards) and support improvement plans.
- Issue Resolution: Drive customer issues from containment through root cause, corrective action, and customer closure, working with fab, assembly/test, R&D, product engineering, supply chain, and supplier quality teams.
- Communication: Prepare clear, data-backed updates for customer meetings and internal reviews, with defined owners, timelines, and closure criteria.
- Continuous Improvement: Use customer feedback, field data, and failure analysis findings to reduce recurrence and support design-for-quality and reliability efforts.
- Risk Readiness: Support proactive risk reviews for critical applications, including audits and product change communications.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience with BSEE, or 8+ years of relevant experience with MSEE, or equivalent technical experience
- Customer Quality, Product Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Failure Analysis, or related semiconductor quality experience supporting strategic customers, business units, and cross-functional escalation teams.
- Proven experience in semiconductor processes (Assembly, Test, Post Test)
- Hands-on experience with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with internal and external functional groups.
