Project Cargo| Marine Warranty & Assurance | Load-out Supervision
A specialist marine consultancy is hiring a Senior Business Development Manager to win large, high-value project cargo and marine operations work.
This is a hunter role. We need someone who can close campaigns of the scale that move an entire power station by sea, support a gas conversion project, ship a thousand construction pipes, or assure the load-out of modules and process units from a major fabrication yard. Buyers include oil majors, energy developers, EPCs, yards and end-to-end project logistics houses.
What you will do
- Hunt and close high-value project-cargo, heavy-lift and marine-operations mandates across APAC, with global account reach.
- Work mid-to-senior contacts in project logistics companies, heavy-lift and barge operators, EPCs, fabrication yards and oil majors.
- Get the business onto bid lists and into tender specifications early, so warranty and load supervision are written in, not bolted on.
- Lead bids and tenders: qualify, assemble technical-commercial input, price, write, present, negotiate and close.
- Turn one-off attendances into multi-shipment programmes and campaign retainers.
Who we want
Backgrounds of interest:
- Port Captain, Load Master or Super Cargo
- Master Mariner with heavy-lift, project cargo, barge or offshore construction time
- Naval Architect or Marine / Ocean Engineer
- Marine Warranty Surveyor or marine consultant who has moved into business development
- Senior BD from project logistics, heavy lift or marine consultancy with a record of winning large campaigns
You will need existing mid-to-senior relationships in end-to-end logistics companies, real bid-and-tender craft, and enough operational fluency to sit with a yard marine manager or an oil-major logistics lead without being coached. SOMWS membership is useful.
The work looks like
- Selling consultancy services on load-out, transportation and discharge of high-value or out-of-gauge cargo.
- Planning and on-site supervision of the load: method, vessel suitability, stowage, seafastening, ballast and sailaway.
- SPMT, lifted, skidded, Ro-Ro and float-on / float-off operations.
- Campaigns for energy, infrastructure and industrial plant — not container liner sales.
Global coverage, predominantly Asia Pacific. Singapore is preferred. Other APAC hubs will be considered for a candidate with the right book of relationships.
