Open Systems Developer

Experience Required: 3–5 years

Employment Type: Yearly renewable contract

About the Role

We are looking for an Open Systems Developer to design, build, and maintain applications running on Linux/Unix and other distributed platforms. You will work closely with infrastructure, QA, and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy applications on Linux/Unix and distributed environments
• Write clean, maintainable code in languages such as Java, Python, C/C++, or Go
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and third-party systems
• Write and maintain shell scripts to automate deployment, monitoring, and batch processes
• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and perform root cause analysis
• Work with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) including query tuning and schema design
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussions
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and support release management
• Maintain technical documentation and follow secure coding standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software development on open systems platforms
• Strong proficiency in at least one of: Java, Python, C/C++, or Go
• Solid working knowledge of Linux/Unix command line and shell scripting
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
• Good understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Experience with configuration management (Ansible, Terraform

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
