Responsible for preparing and serving beverages, generating bar revenue and supervising Bar Waiters within an assigned bar area.

Work aboard an American freestyle cruise line operating global itineraries across Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and other international destinations. Ship assignments and itineraries are determined by operational requirements.

• Open to Malaysian and Singaporean applicants only.

• Must be available for full-time shipboard employment.

• At least one year of experience as a Bartender on a large cruise ship or in a high-volume 4-star or 5-star luxury hotel or resort is required.

• Previous shipboard experience is not compulsory.

• At least one year of experience working in a high-volume bar operation is required.

• At least one year of experience maintaining bar inventories is required.

• Completion of an accredited Bartender Certification Programme from a recognised institution is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of point-of-sale systems is required.

• Intermediate to advanced spoken and written English is required. Additional languages are preferred.

• Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, IBM AS400, Fidelio and Micros is preferred.

• Able to prepare beverages quickly and accurately according to established recipes.

• Able to work in public bars, lounges, service bars, crew bars and private-function bars.

• Able to work seven days a week according to the shipboard schedule.

• Comfortable living and working in a multicultural environment and sharing limited accommodation space.

• Must meet the cruise line’s shipboard medical and physical fitness requirements and be able to complete the required safety training.

• Successful candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, depending on their experience, interview performance and the cruise line’s assessment.

• Monthly salary: USD 1,633.57

• Contract duration: 36 weeks onboard, followed by approximately 2 months off.

• Prepare beverages according to standard recipes, pouring measurements and presentation guidelines.

• Use the correct glassware and garnishes for each beverage.

• Provide professional beverage service while applying effective sales and upselling techniques.

• Supervise Bar Waiters and other personnel assigned to the bar area.

• Set up and organise the bar according to operational requirements.

• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and proper storage standards within the assigned bar.

• Ensure minimum drinking-age, beverage-service and liquor-control policies are followed.

• Process beverage sales and guest transactions accurately through the point-of-sale system.

• Maintain sales records and submit the required reports to Bar Management.

• Monitor beverage stocks and requisition food, beverages and consumable supplies.

• Conduct inventory at the end of each voyage and account for product shortages or overages.

• Maintain and safeguard bar equipment, stock and company assets.

• Support departmental revenue, cost-control and guest-satisfaction targets.

• Assist with crew training, restaurant beverage service, private functions and embarkation duties when assigned.
