Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Clinical Instructor in Nursing
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, supporting student learning, contributing to curriculum development, supervising research, and actively participating in research, publication, academic service, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, deliver, and assess teaching and learning materials for nursing subjects according to the candidate’s qualifications, expertise, and assigned teaching areas.
- Plan, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve curriculum, course content, teaching methodologies, and assessment tools.
- Supervise and/or co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research proposals, projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Maintain and continuously develop subject matter and clinical expertise, including participation in relevant clinical practice where required under the guidance of the Head of School and/or Dean.
- Collaborate with academic and clinical staff to ensure effective delivery of teaching and learning activities.
- Provide academic guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support to students, including monitoring attendance, academic progress, and providing remedial support where necessary.
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships within the faculty and with healthcare providers, professional bodies, and relevant external agencies.
- Undertake administrative duties related to student admissions, assessments, academic progress, achievement, and attendance.
- Contribute to university, faculty, and school initiatives in alignment with institutional strategic development plans.
- Actively engage in research, scholarly activities, publications, conferences, and knowledge exchange activities to enhance the academic reputation of the School and University.
- Contribute to research grant applications and collaborative research initiatives where applicable.
- Undertake other academic, administrative, and representative duties as assigned by the Head of School and/or Dean.
- Participate in external committees, working groups, professional activities, community engagement, and corporate social responsibility initiatives where appropriate.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness, research capabilities, and academic growth.
- Be willing to travel and represent the faculty at meetings, conferences, events, and other assignments within Malaysia or overseas when required.
- Support occasional weekend activities, including marketing, student recruitment, open days, and student engagement programmes.
- Adopt flexible teaching and working arrangements, including online, blended, open, and distance learning delivery where required.
Requirements
- PhD in Nursing or a related field is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Registered Nurse with valid professional registration in Malaysia.
- Possession of a Post Basic qualification in a relevant nursing specialty will be an added advantage.
- Relevant teaching, clinical, and/or academic experience in nursing education.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to speak Mandarin is an added advantage.
- Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and student engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within an academic environment.
- Experience in curriculum development, postgraduate supervision, research, and academic publication is highly desirable.
- A strong publication and research track record will be an advantage, particularly for appointment at senior lecturer level.
