About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a digital platform team supporting Facilities Management and Smart District operations.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, deploying, and maintaining modern web applications within an enterprise platform ecosystem. The role involves hands-on full stack development, system integration, Microsoft Azure, and DevOps, working closely with product managers, designers, technical leads, and business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a strong full stack engineer with experience building scalable enterprise applications, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain modern web applications and services.
• Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
• Build scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and/or TypeScript (Node.js).
• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs for application functionality and system integration.
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise engineering standards.

System Integration & Data Services

• Develop and maintain integrations between the digital platform and enterprise systems using APIs, messaging, and data services.
• Implement event-driven integrations using technologies such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or equivalent platforms.
• Support data exchange, synchronisation, and workflow integration across multiple applications.
• Work with shared platform services including authentication, notifications, workflow, scheduling, and common APIs.
• Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure reliable communication between systems.

Cloud Engineering & DevOps

• Deploy and maintain cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Build and support containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Work with Azure services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), API Management (APIM), Application Gateway, and Azure Key Vault.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
• Manage source code and development workflows using GitLab.

Security & Reliability

• Apply secure software development practices and enterprise security standards.
• Support TLS/certificate management, authentication, identity and access management, and secrets management.
• Monitor application performance, availability, and operational health.
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis and implement improvements to application reliability.

Product & Delivery

• Collaborate with product managers, service designers, technical leads, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and user needs.
• Translate business requirements into practical and scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in solution design, prototyping, technical reviews, Agile ceremonies, and release planning.
• Support application migration, modernisation, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate AI-enabled capabilities into applications where required.

Requirements

• Strong experience in full stack software development.
• Proficiency in frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
• Backend development experience using Java and/or TypeScript (Node.js).
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications through APIs and messaging technologies.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and technologies such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or Kafka.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience implementing or supporting CI/CD pipelines and GitLab-based development workflows.
• Understanding of secure development practices, identity and access management, TLS/certificate management, and secrets management.
• Familiarity with databases and data integration concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
