We are seeking an experienced Safe Launch Manager to lead and control the safe launch and ramp-up of new automotive products, ensuring they meet OEM quality expectations from first production through to launch exit. You will coordinate every stage of the Safe Launch process, from pre-launch preparation through ramp-up, issue detection, quality verification, and exit approval, working closely with internal teams and the customer to protect product quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction during this critical phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and coordinate all Safe Launch stages, including pre-launch preparation, production ramp-up, issue detection, quality verification, and exit approval.
• Develop and manage Safe Launch plans in line with customer requirements, including those of Ford North America and other major OEMs.
• Define and implement enhanced controls during launch, such as additional inspections, containment checks, and increased audit frequency.
• Monitor ramp-up performance and launch readiness, tracking quality metrics, capacity, and production stability.
• Detect launch issues early, lead root cause analysis, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions using tools such as 8D, PFMEA, and 5-Why.
• Verify product and process quality through data review, audits, and customer-specified validation activities before requesting Safe Launch exit.
• Prepare and present Safe Launch documentation, status reports, and exit criteria evidence to the customer for approval.
• Act as the main point of contact with the customer’s quality and launch teams throughout the launch period.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure launch targets are met.
• Ensure full compliance with IATF 16949, VDA standards, and Customer-Specific Requirements (CSRs) throughout the launch process.
• Capture lessons learned from each launch and drive improvements to future launch processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in the automotive industry.
• At least 1 year of Safe Launch Management and ramp-up control experience with Ford North America or another major OEM; Tier-1 supplier SLM experience is preferred.
• Well versed in executing and coordinating Safe Launch stages, including pre-launch preparation, ramp-up, issue detection, quality verification, and exit approval.
• Strong knowledge of automotive industry compliance requirements, including IATF 16949, VDA, and Customer-Specific Requirements.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other core automotive quality tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on experience in 8D and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to interface directly with OEM customers.
• Able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities during launch timelines.
