About the role

This is a nursing position in a hospital department responsible for managing daily operational activities, planning and delivering patient care, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment. The role includes special responsibilities such as performing triage, assisting with patient assessment, and coordinating patient admission, discharge, and transfers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage department operations to ensure efficient and effective daily activities, responding to changing patient dependency and optimising resource management

• Perform patient assessment, anticipate potential risks, and execute appropriate actions to ensure patient safety

• Plan and manage patient care according to hospital policies and procedures to fulfil and exceed customer satisfaction

• Demonstrate effective and empathetic communication and collaboration with all parties to ensure best clinical outcomes

• Address customer complaints professionally and promptly

• Ensure effective handover of duties and required patient information at shift changeover

• Ensure doctor's orders are carried out; clarify areas of uncertainty and refer disputes to relevant consultant

• Liaise with healthcare members to ensure appropriate patient care

• Ensure legibility, accuracy, and completion of patient medical records, charts, and relevant documents within stipulated timeframes

• Perform triage based on Malaysian Triage Category and field triage in disaster cases or mass casualty incidents

About you

• Demonstrate operational knowledge of nursing procedures

• Follow standards and quality in nursing care and service

• Complete all competencies and orientation checklist within stipulated timeframe

• Maintain patient clinical records and keep all patient information in strictest confidence

• Assist doctors with procedures and treatments, including administering sterile procedures

• Administer medications according to hospital policy

• Practice economical use of equipment and supplies

• Actively participate in in-service and other educational programmes for continuous professional development

• Work in line with individual and department KPI

• Report any incidents within stipulated time
