Role Description

The Quantitative Researcher / Quantitative Developer / Quantitative Strategist develops mathematical models, analytical tools, and systematic strategies to support investment and trading decisions. Responsibilities include preparing data, testing hypotheses, evaluating performance and risk, and communicating findings.

The Researcher investigates signals and validates models. The Developer builds research infrastructure and production systems, while the Strategist translates quantitative findings into investment or trading approaches, accounting for portfolio constraints, transaction costs, and implementation risks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field; postgraduate study is advantageous.
• Experience in quantitative research, financial modelling, systematic strategies, or quantitative software development.
• Strong knowledge of probability, statistics, numerical methods, and time-series analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with disciplined testing, documentation, and version control practices.
• Ability to validate datasets, investigate anomalies, and maintain reproducible analytical workflows.
• Understanding of financial instruments, market behaviour, portfolio risk, and transaction costs.
• Ability to evaluate models critically and identify overfitting, data leakage, and backtesting limitations.
• For researcher positions, experience designing hypotheses, testing signals, and conducting robust out-of-sample evaluation.
• For developer positions, strong software engineering skills and experience building reliable research or trading systems; C++ or comparable languages may be relevant.
• For strategist positions, experience translating research into implementable strategies and explaining performance, exposures, and risks to stakeholders.
