REKAYU FURNITURE STUDIO 简介

RE:KAYU is a social enterprise that uses discarded wooden pallets and turns them into essential furniture items, giving them a new lease on life.Aside from that, the company also has a programme that assists those who were previously incarcerated by helping them reintegrate into society. This programme aspires to motivate society to offer ex-convicts a second chance at earning an honest living.Presently, RE:KAYU has taken an initiative to hire one of these former juvenile convict as a woodworker who was unemployed since August 2021. RE:KAYU’s inception came from the NGO@Makerthon program where its co-founder Faizal Ayob, holds the position of Assistant Secretary for the Malaysian Ex-Prisoners & Juvenile Offenders Welfare Organization (Nadi Baru).As a social enterprise, RE:KAYU is committed to empowering ex-offenders, ex-juveniles, and the underprivileged youth within the Project Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) community to hone their skills and turn their life around to generate income for themselves.
