GENERAL BUSINESS ACTIVITIESGeneral Business Activities Koperasi Dagang Emas Pulau Pinang Berhad (KDE) is mainly Islamic pawn broking (Ar-Rahnu). Ar-Rahnu KDE provides a convenient and Syariah compliant alternative for customers to exchange gold jewelleries for cash that can be used for various needs such as payment of children’s education, starting up business and many more.

Ar-Rahnu is certainly a cost effective option especially for those with limited capital and are not eligible to apply for bank loans. Our business model is based on the accomplishment loan services of Islamic that offer no interest rate in Malaysia. Based on the decision of the company to develop our business, we have now established 40 branches of Ar-Rahnu around Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak.

The Ar-Rahnu business continues to grow from strength to strength. As Ar-Rahnu co-exist with Public Gold offices, the cost structure and thus overheads of the KDE branches are much lower. These branches continue to successfully leverage on cross-selling activities to grow our revenues.
