PROFILE OF

KUALA LUMPUR & SELANGOR INDIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY (KLSICCI)

Established in 1928

The Chamber plays an integral part in the national scene, constantly keeping the community’s business needs in mind and the nation’s economic development in full perspective.

Functions as an important link between the Government and the private sector, striving for the implementation of the country’s economic, trade and fiscal policies.

Also, acts as the vigilant mouthpiece with regards to the needs of the Malaysian Indian business community, particularly in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the State of Selangor Darul Ehsan.

The Chamber’s role and acheivements are recognised today by the Government, the business sector and its members. Our growth and dynamism depends on our members.

KLSICCI is elated to have 1050 members who are businessmen and women who spread out in KL and the state of Selangor. The Chamber also has an indirect membership of more than 280,000.00 members via affiliated trade associations.Our Chamber actively promotes their interests and creates new business opportunities for them. Amongst others, business opportunities are created via trade trips networking with foreign and local delegations, and exhibitions. In line with government policies, the Chamber has been assisting the Indian Community to be entrepreneurs and assist in further developing their businesses.

The aims and objects for which the Chamber is established shall be for the promotion, protection and advancement of all interests impacting on trade and industry of the Malaysian Indian Community. In furtherance of these objects, the Chamber shall be empowered:-

uF0D2 to co-operate with the Government of Malaysia, State Governments and public bodies in Malaysia to advance the economic development and prosperity of Malaysia with particular reference to Indian business interests and businessmen;

uF0D2 to promote and facilitate commerce and industry in Malaysia and between Malaysia and foreign countries and the interests of persons engaged in such activities;

uF0D2 to collect, collate and disseminate statistical and other information relating to commerce and industry;

uF0D2 to promote and constructively comment on legislation or other measures affecting commerce and industry;

uF0D2 to mediate in disputes between members of the Chamber with the prior permission of the members concerned;

uF0D2 to arbitrate in disputes arising from commercial transactions between members of the Chamber and/or other parties willing or agreeing to abide by the decision of the Chamber;

uF0D2 to sell, improve, manage and develop, exchange, lease, mortgage, dispose of or otherwise deal with all or any part of the property of the Chamber;

uF0D2 to provide facilities for holding and conducting trade shows, business negotiations, arbitrations, meetings of creditors, meeting of companies or other like matters.

uF0D2 to communicate with other Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other mercantile and public and private bodies throughout Malaysia and internationally and promote measures for facilitation of trade;

uF0D2 to acquire any land or building for the purposes of the Chamber and to construct, renovate or demolish any building upon any such land;

uF0D2 to borrow or raise any monies required for the purposes of the Chamber upon such terms and in such manner and on such securities as the lender may require;

uF0D2 to subscribe to become a member of or co-operate with any lawful Association whether incorporated or not whose objects are wholly or in part similar to those of the Chamber;

uF0D2 to establish and support, or aid in the establishment and support of associations, institutions, funds or trusts calculated to benefit employees or ex-employees of the Chamber, or the dependents or connections of such persons; to grant pensions or allowances; to make payments towards insurances and subscribe to or support any charitable or patriotic purposes or any exhibition with any public, general or useful objectives;

uF0D2 to invest funds of the Chamber from time to time in quoted or unquoted shares or unit trusts or place on deposit or in any other investments beneficial to the Chamber with licensed institutions.
