EnsembleData (*************) is a fast-growing SaaS company building real-time data infrastructure and APIs for social media platforms.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer contractor who can move quickly, take ownership of complex engineering problems, and help us scale our systems as we continue growing.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced backend-focused engineer to join us for a 3/6-month contract. You will work closely with the engineering team on building and improving high-performance data systems, APIs, and infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, working independently, and shipping production-quality solutions without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs
• Improve scalability, reliability, and performance of existing systems
• Work on data processing pipelines and high-volume workloads
• Optimize systems handling large amounts of real-time data
• Debug complex production issues and implement long-term solutions
• Improve engineering practices, code quality, and system architecture
• Collaborate directly with the team to deliver impactful features quickly

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience with Python and backend development
• Experience building production APIs and distributed systems
• Solid understanding of databases and data modeling (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Ability to independently investigate problems and deliver solutions
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment

Nice to Have

• Experience working with large-scale data platforms
• Experience with web scraping, crawling, or data extraction systems
• Experience with high-throughput APIs
• Familiarity with social media platforms or public data APIs
• Experience optimizing backend performance and infrastructure costs
